A Perfect Match : A Synopsis
Emma, the irrepressible protagonist from The Baby
Trail, is back for a whirlwind trip through the
upside-down world of international adoption.
From the funny and feisty chick-litératteuse who brought
readers The Baby Trail, comes a follow-up thats
every bit as hilarious and irreverent as its predecessor. In A
Perfect Match, Sinead Moriarty uses her classic Irish humor
to send thirty-five-year-old Emma and her husband, James, on a
rollercoaster ride around the globe to find the perfect child.
After attempting various fertility treatments (including
post-sex handstands and mountains of hormone-inducing drugs),
along with following the advice of family, friends, and too many
womens magazines, Emma and her husband have finally given
up trying to conceive naturally. Adopting a baby seems to be the
perfect solution to their problems. Emma imagines arriving in
Russia to find "Baby Right," a beautiful infant who
will smile up at her through the grimy bars of her crib. It will
be like magicwont it?
Now Emma and James must go through a rigorous screening
process, including a culture class filled with competitive
adoptive parents-to-be and very critical case managers. Emma
feels the pressure to prove that she and her husband are the
perfect parents but she trips over red tape every step of the
way. Emma soon finds out that adoption isnt so easy
and that perfection has little to do with finding the perfect
match.
